SAP Fiori is a collection of applications that are simple and easy to use which renders an intuitive user experience for widely used SAP software functions. Fiori is more than just a new user interface. It is a set of cross-device applications that, among other things, allow users to start a process on their desktop and continue it on a tablet or smartphone. SAP is developing its Fiori apps on its latest user interface framework, SAPUI5.

Design concept of SAP Fiori:

Up till now SAP has launched different versions of Fiori i.e.in 2013 SAP Fiori 1.0 has launched, in 2016 SAP Fiori 2.0 has launched and in 2018 they have launched SAP Fiori3.0.

Let's see different versions of SAP Fiori

SAP Fiori 1.0

SAP Fiori 1.0 introduced in 2013 has evolved from set of apps into the new user experience for SAP software. It's used across solutions such as SAP S/4HANA (SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA), the SAP Successfactors Employee Central solution, Ariba mobile solutions, the SAP Cloud for Customer solution, and more.

Based on SAPUI5 technology (versions 1.26-1.38), SAP Fiori 1.0 reflects a broader paradigm shift, moving from a focus on features and functions to users and their experience. As a result, SAP brings simplicity to a complex business scenarios so people and teams can be more productive and work better, faster and in entirely new ways.

SAP Fiori 3.0

The newly launched SAP Fiori3 which is SAP's new target design system for all SAP products to fully support the intelligent suite. It is planned to provide the more information on home page .This Blog will give the information about new features which is added up in SAP Fiori 3.

As we are using UI5 technology for SAP Fiori apps. So UI5 delivers the SAP Fiori 3 design through Theming, Cards and Layouts, and Shell Bar

SAP Fiori 3.0 key goals:

  • Consistency is one of the very important aspects of a successful user interface with IT solutions. Harmonized design is an aspect of consistency. Thismeans, uniformity in every visual object such as top band called "shell bar", background color, foreground color, font size and content area. Having flexible structures to fit different contents is another aspect of consistency.
  • To start this effort off, SAP made the new Quartz theme and the redesigned, simplified shell header bar available on April 25th with SAP UI5 1.65.
  • Fiori 3 screens will uniformly use the SAP Invented font "72 Font" for consistency across all products. SAP is also working on the typography. For example, should the Delete button be called "Delete" or "Remove" or something else.
  • Theming

    1. So in SAP Fiori 3 the previous visual design "Belize" from SAP Fiori 2.0 has now been replace with a new theme called "SAP Quartz Light.". It is simple and minimalistic and customer can easily make use of it to theme their brand.
    2. SAP Quartz Light theme can be rendered in compact density suitable for desktop devices, as well as cozy density, which provides optimized spacing for touch devices.
    • Shell Bar

      • In addition to the new Quartz theme, a new shell header bar has been aligned to be a best fit for all SAP products, and to be as simple as possible.
      • Instead ofhaving a company logo and a home button, we now just have the company logo. By clicking on it youcan go back to the home page.
      • In Fiori 2.0 Shell Bar contains company logo and home button. But now in Fiori 3 we just have companylogo. By clicking on company logo you can go back to home page.
      • The user avatar has been moved to the right, where all further actions can be found such as notifications and search.

    • Although SAP Fiori 3.0 supports aspects of intelligence such as natural language interaction and machine intelligence already today, we have reimagined how they can become a key part of the experience by deeply integrating them into the foundation of the design to provide.
    • Intelligent home pages showing everything you need to focus on.
    • Digital assistant with conversational UI fully integrated into the experience.
    • Dynamic content to support intelligent apps with embedded AI, for briefings, analytics, tasks, notifications, and recommendations ranked by relevance and for situation handling.
    • A new theme for a fresh, modern look and feel.

    • Fiori 3 integrates multiple solutions into a single screen. This helps to see all related information in one single page to help make decisions and take actions quickly. Other ways in which we are delivering on an integrated experience is with a central inbox and Launchpad with cards.let’s see what’s cards is all about.

    • A card is a design pattern that displays the most concise pieces of information in a limited-space container. Similar to a tile, it helps users structure their work in an intuitive and dynamic way.
    • Via cards more information can be provided on home page. We can create the custom pages using cards. Cards can be transactional and analytical.

      - In transactional cards we can show information in list, table, object, unstructured content, timeline.

      - In analytical cards we can show information in charts.
