The customer for this case study belongs to the Technology Innovation Industry specializing in solution related to Artificial Intelligence, Edge Computing, IoT, Video Analytics, proximity sensors etc. They are known for their Smart City product offering and Intelligent transportation solutions which cater to industries such as mining, marine, logistics, agriculture, dairy, waste management etc.

Business Need

Being in the era where Technology Innovation industry was booming, the customer company grew at a pace where, it got to the point that their existing process was not matches with the Market Industry business process, hence there was no longer providing the necessary visibility and flexibility to run their business effectively. The company used a paper base model for operating and managing their day to day business operation which cause data inaccuracies, repeated & contradicting information, rework and noncompliance.

The customer understood, if they wanted to stay updated and competitive within the industry they needed an Enterprise to match with other industries standard process, Paper-Less Model & system which not only allowed their Business Process standardization & integration but also provided real time visibility & control to stay industry compliance.

SAP S/4 HANA with Fiori was proposed to the client which address their Business needs as well as provided a platform for them to collaborate and perform proactive analysis.

Project Scope

End-to-end implementation of SAP S/4 HANA 1709 for a Business process, including the following:

  • Finance & Controlling (FI/CO)
    • Organization structure, Travel Management with Travel Expense submitting, Acc. Payable & Receivable ,G/L, Chart of Account and Integration with other related modules, Fixed Assets of Previous and Current year with its Valuation and Configured the Fixed Assets Depreciation calculation as per clients requirement
  • Material Management (MM)
    • Procure to Pay cycle , Inventory Management , Vendor Evaluation , Workflow for Multi-level Release strategy for PO, PR & Contract
  • Project System (PS)
    • Planning, Monitoring, Controlling , Costing
    • WBS element structure finalization, Network and activities finalization
    • Budgeting based on WBS and its plan v/s actual tracking
    • Time entry based on WBS and its posting in CO for WBS element
    • PR Creation and reservation creation based on requirement in WBS

This customer ran their current business operation without any standardize process using a paper-based model. While the model worked fairly in the past, the model was not sustainable considering the Technology Innovation industry was changing at a fast pace with more focus on external regulation, audit and compliance. The lack of standardize process lead to data inconsistence and audit noncompliance.

VSD Technology understood the customer challenge and recommended the implementation of standard SAP S/4 HANA with Fiori.

The customer project resource was not full time allocated for this implementation hence leading to lack of resource commitment toward process change and project success. This impacted the overall project go-live.
